High School Music: Additional Opportunities

  • Private voice lessons are available to students in high school choir. Ninth hour is set aside for student lessons; however, scheduling is done on a per student basis. Contact Miss Herd for information.
  • Ms. Sherman, the grade school accompanist, offers private piano lessons. Contact her for more information.
  • High school choir members are invited to audition for Dynamics, a select mixed ensemble. Audition dates will be announced. Students do not need to prepare any repertoire, but should come ready to sing!
  • High school juniors and seniors interested in pursuing collegiate music study may sign up for the College Preparation course, offered by Miss Herd (see schedule). In this course, students can explore music concepts in more depth than regular class time/rehearsal allows. Topics covered include music theory, aural training, music history, analytical listening, and literature study. If a student is interested in this course but is not available at the time it is offered, he/she should contact Miss Herd to explore additional options.
  • High school choir members are invited to audition for the KMEA All-District and All-State Honor Choirs--select groups that feature talented student singers from across the region and the state. Parents and students will be notified of audition dates and details when this information is available. Contact Miss Herd for more information.
