Elementary Music Expectations and Consequences

Student Expectations

  1. Follow directions the first time they are given.
  2. Be an active listener.
  3. Treat everyone, including yourself, with respect.
  4. Be responsible with instruments and materials.
  5. Try your best in all activities.

Consequences

Students who choose not to follow classroom expectations can expect one or more of the following consequences to occur:

  • Verbal warning
  • Change of seat
  • Movement to an observation area to watch the activity. The student may be invited to return, if compliant.

Serious discipline concerns may result in an office referral or parent conference.

Rewards

Students who choose to follow or exceed classroom expectations may expect any of the following to occur:

  • Praise and applause
  • Special activities, recognition, and privileges
  • Individual / Class rewards

The class as a whole has the opportunity to earn five points every day for following expectations. Class rewards will be administered when a total of 25 points has been earned. The teacher will determine, at her own discretion, the degree to which students have followed classroom expectations.

Modifications and accommodations are considered and applied when appropriate to meet the individual learner’s needs. The teacher will administer consequences and rewards as she deems appropriate in each individual situation. All school/district policies apply.
